WHAT'S SHE LIKE

Last week I took photos of what I was wearing everyday for my friend Josie. She writes http://whatisshelike.blogspot.com/ which I am an avid follower. She has moved back from Manchester now, but while she was there I was introduced to city through her blog. The above is an extract from her post 7 days.

UP THE PASSAGE

It was Samba Swirl vs Frae when we went for post brunchinner frozen yoghurts at one of our favourite haunts, Camden Passage, earlier today. We both bought 'antique' necklaces from a lady on a stall. Claudia's is a globe pendant which chimes when you shake it. We were assured this was the fairies living inside. We met a lovely women selling vintage hats and hair pieces. The one in the above photo is from the 50s and was so intricately made.

LONDON FASHION WEEKEND

Tonight I soaked up the the last breath of London Fashion Week at Somerset House. I spent the evening working at the Sass & Bide and Cheap Monday Sample Sale as part of London Fashion Weekend. There was quite a buzz around as people rushed to find a bargain, while swigging their free champagne cocktails and diet cokes. I managed to have a quick look round and found some great jewelry like the rabbit pendants above as well as sweet jewelry by Clara Francis. My favourite from latter was a hot air balloon beaded pendent which hung on a long silver chain. Featured around the buildings were light installations using the energy saving light bulbs by Plumen that I had seen at the London Design Festival earlier this week. They were all hung from different coloured cords and knotted to make a variety of chandelier shapes. All together a fun but tiring night.

FASHION EEK

Last week was mental at work with all the preparations for the Vivienne Weswtwood Red Label show on Saturday. We spent the week preparing by holding castings and fittings to get the models and looks 100% right. The collection was inspired by the 2012 Olympics and is much more muted than the previous collection, but the dramatic ethereal hair and make-up was the icing on the cake. It was manic backstage (also interesting venue being Smithfield Market) with press left right and centre photographing, models having last minute make-up done and dressers getting everything ready for the final walk. It all seemed to go very quickly but I managed to get a few blurry snaps which I feel give an idea of what it was like backstage. Next week I head to Paris to assist with the Gold Label show - very exciting!

DESIGN FESTIVAL

This week is the London Design Festival and tonight is the Shoreditch Design Triangle open house.  To celebrate I spent my lunch break in my favourite design store SCP on Curtain Road. I am now obsessed with the idea of a pink cord hanging lamp or light. I want to put cup hooks up on my wall and hang it with one of these new energy saving light bulbs that spirals around(as pictured in the first photo). I also love the badger and fox lambswool cushions designed by Donna Wilson. Everything she makes seems so homely. I can't wait for my own home!

HEXAGONAL TRIPLE

Photobucket

I found this ring today at COS. They have such lovely things in at the moment. The store is flooded with sea greens and deep blues as well as crisp white shirts and black pinnies. I can't wait to go back and find some things for my birthday. This stack/ hinged ring was part of a jewelry series. I loved the matching bangle but it was too big for me. I like the way you can wear it two ways. Out stretched or stacked up tight. You've got to love a bit of versatility.
