My urban get-away...

The newly refurbished Photographers’ Gallery just off Oxford Street is the best place to go when you need a bit of instant calm in the middle of town - you just dip down a side street and there it is. It’s free, the tourists don’t know it so it’s always peaceful, and there’s a lovely cafe as well as some wonderful exhibitions - it’s a really well-designed space and perfect if you’ve been in Topshop all morning and have got to the point where you want to kill yourself.
